these texts are an archive of my life in the San Francisco Bay Area from march 2007 - march 2015. it stands as a record of close to a decade of my life, charting the struggles i faced as an artist, daughter, and lover. messy and chaotic at times, eloquent and poetic at others, these texts are an index i am proud of. it was here in this electric box that i learned how to be honest about my experiences and the person i needed to become. it was here that i first learned the truism that words make the world and how to trust such a beautiful, rife, hard fact.

thank you for meeting me here in such tall grass.

my artist website is here.

untitled as of yet...

this monster is about 5 feet tall and actually backs you up when you want to look at it... very much like a snarling dog, like a pissed off mama. i am happy and full of fire.

the rampage continues.

thanks evelyn! i'm excited about this painting! i'm so glad you like it! big and angry and (oddly?) masculine... odd to go from the very feminine imagery of aprons to this. i'm in love with it.

(your new chapbook showed up in my mailbox today!!!)

that's so upsetting it's actually hard to look at for very long. very intense, masterfully expressed.

thanks, maggie! i love that you told me about your reaction- it is sort of hard to be close too. it really truly does back you up to the other side of the room. one of my friends told me in the beginning stage of this painting "that's effing scary". i like that aspect of it. ;)

yow, this is one powerful monster. shivers. the maw of the skull. the skull of the maw. i want to run away screaming, but also stay in place to be swallowed whole. this reminds me of anecdotes about how creatures feel terrified at the moment of being pounced on by a predator, but when the fangs hit the neck, they feel the supreme elation of being devoured by another living being.

you are becoming-animal!

I immediately backed up. I almost fell off my fucking chair. Power. Elation. Fear. Joy. Snarl and bite but protect. Genius.

(nice d&g nod!!! hahahaha! thank you!!!)

thank you, elisabeth. who knew that following my own dreams (rather than the dreams others hold for me) could be so freeing? ;)

Amazing.

thank you, D! :D it IS a leap! thank you for saying! it still surprises the hell out of me and it stokes the fire and pushes me forward and i just feel LUCKY that it's here, crammed in my little house, growling and snarling at me to follow my heart. ;)
