these texts are an archive of my life in the San Francisco Bay Area from march 2007 - march 2015. it stands as a record of close to a decade of my life, charting the struggles i faced as an artist, daughter, and lover. messy and chaotic at times, eloquent and poetic at others, these texts are an index i am proud of. it was here in this electric box that i learned how to be honest about my experiences and the person i needed to become. it was here that i first learned the truism that words make the world and how to trust such a beautiful, rife, hard fact.

thank you for meeting me here in such tall grass.

my artist website is here.

oh, Alice!

i started reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland again last night and oh, i am floored by her! i want to make myself a t-shirt that says 'curiouser and curiouser' on the front of it. i'm sure it already exists somewhere. i'll have to scout around. and also one that says 'twinkle, twinkle, little bat'. i told myself i'm not allowed to buy any related merchandise until i've read the story at least 5 times but i don't think i'm going to be able to hold out that long. :) the story strikes deep enough on the first read to make you a lifer.

Agreed. As artists aren't we all headed "down the rabbit hole" on a daily basis, trying to make some sense of the absurdity we glean, living our lives in "a constant free fall" as Kiki Smith puts it. Nice to know someone admires that. Where I come from they call it being a loser.

have you seen the big prints she did based on Alice in Wonderland? amazing. my favorite is The Pool of Tears 2.

Tales From the Rabbit Hole: Called in sick to work for the 2nd day in a row to stay home and do art. And when I say "home" I use the term loosly cuz I'm sorta homeless right now, crashing at my Mom's pad. With my dog. And I'm broke. And I'm almost 38. Which is almost 40. And I'm retarded. But you know what? My work looks AMAZING!

hell yes! the work is what matters most! i know that like-minded (like-hearted) people agree... i'm slowly becoming less and less worried about outside expectations: money, possessions, status. blarf.

keep at it, girl! good for you!

ps. i think you should feel very proud that you've been able to maintain your practice despite hardship. it's usually the first thing that gets tossed out and forgotten. you've overcome a serious hurdle and it's wonderful.

My latest efforts are on FB in an album called, "New work, New Ideas" They're double exposed photos and I'd love to know what you think. I feel I'm on the event horizon of something good. I'll start paintings from these photos over the weekend. I'm house-sitting for a friend so that means I'll spend three days on the astral plane, covered in paint, wearing some strange outfit that involves a turban and pajama pants. Heaven!

yay! house-sitting is so much fun! all the make-believe that takes place.

i'll definitely go take a peak on FB. i'll send you a message there.
