these texts are an archive of my life in the San Francisco Bay Area from march 2007 - march 2015. it stands as a record of close to a decade of my life, charting the struggles i faced as an artist, daughter, and lover. messy and chaotic at times, eloquent and poetic at others, these texts are an index i am proud of. it was here in this electric box that i learned how to be honest about my experiences and the person i needed to become. it was here that i first learned the truism that words make the world and how to trust such a beautiful, rife, hard fact.

thank you for meeting me here in such tall grass.

the little dots all around their feet are orbs of gold and black glitter on a velvet ground of black gouache. their shoes are bright, sparkling silver.

shining things are hard to photograph.

i'm thinking of sylvia plath and wanting to read The Bell Jar. again. :)

the title comes from her poem "Words".

poem to fit the day...

GHOSTS

Some ghosts are women,
neither abstract nor pale,
their breasts as limp as killed fish.
Not witches, but ghosts
who come, moving their useless arms
like forsaken servants.

Not all ghosts are women,
I have seen others;
fat, white-bellied men,
wearing their genitals like old rags.
Not devils, but ghosts.
This one thumps barefoot, lurching
above my bed.

But that isn't all.
Some ghosts are children.
Not angels, but ghosts;
curling like pink teacups
on any pillow, or kicking,
showing their innocent bottoms, wailing
for Lucifer.

yesterday....

ghosts and grey dresses,
apparitions, the cold breeze...

2 things

1. i've been getting so many sweet emails about that print! yay!!!! no fear, we will do it again soon. the more i think about it and what it means and how i'd like the piece to function in the world, i've come to the conclusion that it should always be free. and i mean, completely free: postage paid by me. that being said, whenever i've got cash to burn i will offer it up for consumption. print as needed as i am able.

and to all of you who responded so enthusiastically on round 1, your packages have been shipped! thank you so much!!!

2. thinking of seances and acts of mourning... witnesses, ghosts, memory... collecting the fragments... evidence, ritual, rite.
