these texts are an archive of my life in the San Francisco Bay Area from march 2007 - march 2015. it stands as a record of close to a decade of my life, charting the struggles i faced as an artist, daughter, and lover. messy and chaotic at times, eloquent and poetic at others, these texts are an index i am proud of. it was here in this electric box that i learned how to be honest about my experiences and the person i needed to become. it was here that i first learned the truism that words make the world and how to trust such a beautiful, rife, hard fact.

i love these crocheted roses and that you call them Worry Roses for your mother. My own mother crocheted. It was her art until her fingers became too arthritic to continue. You see the art in the stitches the way she did. She would love this, too.

yes, i have totally ended up with crazy hand cramps as a result of crocheting for hours at a time and sometimes worry that arthritis is in my future. but for now, i feel pretty blessed to have this skill at my disposal and i love it that other people can see the art of it as well. thank you for loving the title. it is a pretty personal piece and it was my honor to make it. :)
hannah! thank you! i love the purple tone within the grey roses. i didn't notice how varied the shades of black and grey were while i was working on this. i'd just make piles of roses and put them in a bag and then go on to making more piles and saving them in other bags. when i installed this piece last monday it was the first time i saw the piece in its totality and i was stunned by it. i am so happy with this piece and am so happy that other people are touched by it too!
